Bulgarian Communist Party
The Bulgarian Communist Party (BCP) was a political party in Bulgaria that played a significant role in the country's history during the 20th century. Founded in 1948, it was the ruling party during the period of communist rule, which lasted until the fall of the regime in 1989. The BCP was aligned with the Soviet Union and implemented policies that aimed to establish a socialist state.
After the collapse of communism, the BCP underwent several transformations, eventually becoming the Bulgarian Socialist Party in 1990. The party has since participated in various elections and remains active in Bulgarian politics, advocating for social democracy and leftist policies.
