Gelada
The Gelada is a unique species of primate found only in the highlands of Ethiopia. It is known for its distinctive long hair and red chest patch, which is more pronounced in males. Geladas primarily feed on grass and are often seen grazing in large groups, making them one of the few primates that are primarily herbivorous.
These animals are social and live in complex groups called harems, typically consisting of one male and several females. Geladas communicate through a variety of vocalizations and body language, showcasing their intricate social structures. Their adaptations to high-altitude living make them fascinating subjects for study in evolutionary biology.
