Gay Men's Health Crisis
The Gay Men's Health Crisis (GMHC) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1982 in response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic affecting the LGBTQ+ community. Its mission is to provide support, education, and advocacy for gay men and others impacted by HIV/AIDS. GMHC offers various services, including counseling, testing, and prevention programs, aiming to improve the overall health and well-being of its clients.
In addition to direct services, GMHC engages in public policy advocacy to address health disparities and promote awareness about issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community. The organization collaborates with other groups and stakeholders to create a more inclusive healthcare system and reduce stigma associated with HIV/AIDS.
