Gallinules
Gallinules are medium-sized water birds belonging to the family Rallidae. They are commonly found in wetlands, marshes, and along the edges of lakes and rivers. Gallinules have long legs and toes, which help them navigate through dense vegetation. Their plumage is often dark with colorful accents, such as a bright red frontal shield.
These birds are known for their distinctive calls and behaviors, including their ability to swim and walk on floating vegetation. Gallinules primarily feed on aquatic plants, seeds, and small invertebrates. They are often seen foraging in shallow waters, using their long bills to probe for food.
