Fraxinus excelsior
Fraxinus excelsior, commonly known as the European ash, is a deciduous tree native to Europe and parts of Asia. It can grow up to 40 meters tall and is characterized by its tall, straight trunk and broad, spreading crown. The leaves are compound, typically consisting of 5 to 13 leaflets, and turn yellow in autumn.
This species is known for its hard, durable wood, which is often used in furniture making and sports equipment. However, Fraxinus excelsior has faced threats from the invasive emerald ash borer and the ash dieback disease, leading to significant declines in its population across Europe.
