Francoist Spain
Francoist Spain refers to the period of Spanish history from 1939 to 1975 when Francisco Franco ruled as a dictator following the Spanish Civil War. His regime was characterized by authoritarianism, censorship, and repression of political dissent, as well as the promotion of conservative and nationalist ideologies.
During this time, Spain experienced significant economic challenges and social changes. Franco's government implemented policies that favored agrarian interests and later embraced industrialization, leading to economic growth in the 1960s. However, political repression and human rights abuses were prevalent, impacting the lives of many Spaniards.
