Francis Seymour-Conway, 4th Marquess of Hertford
Francis Seymour-Conway, 4th Marquess of Hertford (1800-1870), was a British nobleman known for his extensive art collection and involvement in the arts. He inherited the title from his father, the 3rd Marquess, and was a prominent figure in the social circles of his time. His residence, Hertford House, in London, became a notable venue for art exhibitions.
The 4th Marquess was also a significant patron of the arts, supporting various artists and institutions. His collection included works by famous painters such as Canaletto and Turner. After his death, much of his collection was bequeathed to the Wallace Collection, which remains a celebrated museum today.
