Fourth Republic of Greece
The Fourth Republic of Greece refers to the period of Greek history from 1974 to 1981, following the fall of the military junta that ruled from 1967 to 1974. This era marked the restoration of democracy in Greece, leading to the establishment of a parliamentary system and the drafting of a new constitution in 1975.
During this time, significant political changes occurred, including the rise of the Panhellenic Socialist Movement (PASOK), led by Andreas Papandreou. The Fourth Republic focused on rebuilding the nation, addressing economic challenges, and promoting social reforms, ultimately paving the way for Greece's integration into the European Economic Community in 1981.
