First Republic of Greece
The First Republic of Greece was established in 1822 during the Greek War of Independence against the Ottoman Empire. It marked the beginning of Greece's journey towards self-governance after centuries of foreign rule. The republic faced numerous challenges, including internal conflicts and external threats, as it sought to solidify its independence and establish a stable government.
In 1832, the First Republic was replaced by the Kingdom of Greece when the Great Powers recognized Greece's independence and installed King Otto as its monarch. This transition marked a significant shift in Greece's political landscape, moving from a republican form of government to a constitutional monarchy.
