Faceplate
A faceplate is a flat, protective cover that is typically used in electrical devices, such as outlet boxes and switches. It serves to shield the internal components from dust and damage while providing a finished look to the installation. Faceplates can be made from various materials, including plastic and metal, and come in different colors and designs to match the surrounding decor.
In addition to electrical applications, faceplates are also found in computer hardware, where they cover the front of devices like hard drives and CD/DVD drives. These faceplates help maintain a clean appearance and can also provide ventilation or access to controls, depending on the device's design.
