European Space Agency's Rosetta
The European Space Agency's Rosetta mission was launched in 2004 to study the comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. It aimed to understand the composition and behavior of comets, which are considered time capsules from the early solar system.
In 2014, Rosetta made history by becoming the first spacecraft to orbit a comet and deploy a lander, named Philae, onto its surface. This groundbreaking mission provided valuable data about the comet's structure, surface, and the presence of organic molecules, enhancing our knowledge of the origins of water and life on Earth.
