European Bison
The European Bison, also known as the wisent, is a large herbivorous mammal native to Europe. It is the continent's heaviest land animal, with males weighing up to 1,000 kilograms. European bison have a robust build, characterized by a large head, short legs, and a thick coat that varies in color from brown to dark brown.
Once widespread across Europe, the European bison faced extinction in the early 20th century due to hunting and habitat loss. Conservation efforts have since helped to reintroduce them into the wild, and they can now be found in several protected areas, including the Białowieża Forest in Poland and Belarus.
