Ernest Augustus, King of Hanover
Ernest Augustus was born on September 5, 1771, and became the King of Hanover in 1837. He was the son of George III of Great Britain and Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. His reign was marked by the political changes following the unification of Germany and the decline of monarchical power in Europe.
As king, Ernest Augustus faced challenges in maintaining the independence of Hanover amid growing pressures from neighboring states. He was known for his conservative views and efforts to uphold traditional monarchy, which often put him at odds with the liberal movements of his time. He died on November 18, 1851.
