Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz
Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz was born on May 19, 1744, in Germany. She became Queen of Great Britain and Ireland when she married King George III in 1761. Charlotte was known for her intelligence and interest in the arts, particularly music and botany.
As queen, Charlotte played a significant role in the cultural life of the court. She was a patron of the arts and helped establish the Royal Academy of Arts. Charlotte also had 15 children, contributing to the royal lineage and alliances across Europe. She passed away on November 17, 1818.
