Empress Teresa Cristina
Empress Teresa Cristina was born on March 14, 1822, in Naples, Italy. She became the Empress of Brazil by marrying Emperor Dom Pedro II in 1843. Teresa Cristina was known for her dedication to social causes, particularly in education and the arts, and she played a significant role in the cultural life of Brazil during her reign.
As Empress, she supported various charitable organizations and was involved in the establishment of schools and hospitals. Teresa Cristina was also a patron of the Brazilian Academy of Letters, promoting literature and the arts. She passed away on December 28, 1889, shortly after the abolition of slavery in Brazil.
