Emperor Zeno
Emperor Zeno was a Byzantine emperor who ruled from 474 to 491 AD. He was born in what is now modern-day Turkey and became emperor after the death of his predecessor, Leo I. Zeno is known for his efforts to stabilize the empire and manage conflicts, particularly with the Ostrogoths and Persians.
During his reign, Zeno faced various challenges, including internal strife and religious disputes, particularly regarding the Monophysite controversy. He issued the Henotikon, an edict aimed at reconciling differences between various Christian factions. Zeno's reign ended with his death in 491, after which he was succeeded by Anastasius I.
