Monophysite
The term "Monophysite" refers to a Christian theological belief that emphasizes the nature of Jesus Christ as having a single, divine nature. This view emerged in the early centuries of Christianity, particularly in response to debates about the nature of Christ following the Council of Chalcedon in 451 AD. Monophysites argue that Christ's human nature was absorbed into his divine nature, resulting in one unified nature.
Monophysitism is often associated with the Coptic Orthodox Church and other Eastern Christian traditions. The belief contrasts with Chalcedonian Christianity, which holds that Christ has two distinct natures, one divine and one human, coexisting in one person. This theological disagreement has led to significant historical and cultural divisions within Christianity.
