Anastasius I
Anastasius I was a Byzantine Emperor who ruled from 491 to 518 AD. He is known for his administrative reforms and efforts to stabilize the empire's finances. Anastasius introduced a new tax system that improved revenue and reduced corruption, which helped strengthen the economy.
During his reign, Anastasius also focused on religious issues, particularly the conflict between Chalcedonian and non-Chalcedonian Christians. He sought to maintain peace among different factions, although his policies sometimes led to tensions. His reign is often seen as a period of relative stability and prosperity for the Byzantine Empire.
