Elizabeth de Badlesmere
Elizabeth de Badlesmere was a notable figure in medieval England, born around 1300. She was the daughter of Baron Badlesmere and became the wife of Baron Roger de Leyburn. Elizabeth was known for her strong character and involvement in the political affairs of her time.
In 1321, Elizabeth played a significant role during the Despenser War, a conflict between the supporters of Hugh Despenser and those loyal to Queen Isabella. After her husband's capture, she defended Leicester Castle against royal forces, showcasing her determination and leadership during a tumultuous period in English history.
