Elisabeth of Hungary
Elisabeth of Hungary, also known as Saint Elizabeth, was born in 1207 in Pressburg, now part of Slovakia. She was the daughter of Andrew II of Hungary and became known for her deep commitment to helping the poor and sick. After marrying Ludwig IV of Thuringia, she continued her charitable work, building hospitals and caring for those in need.
After her husband's death in 1227, Elisabeth faced hardship and was eventually driven from her home. Despite these challenges, she remained devoted to her faith and service. She died in 1231 and was canonized as a saint in 1235, celebrated for her compassion and dedication.
