Elections in Jamaica
Elections in Jamaica are held to choose representatives for the House of Representatives and the Senate. The electoral process is overseen by the Electoral Commission of Jamaica, which ensures fair and transparent elections. General elections typically occur every five years, but they can be called earlier.
Political parties, mainly the People's National Party (PNP) and the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), compete for seats. Voters must be at least 18 years old and registered to participate. The elections involve a secret ballot, allowing citizens to express their preferences freely.
