Edo people
The Edo people are an ethnic group primarily located in southern Nigeria, particularly in the Edo State. They are known for their rich cultural heritage, which includes traditional music, dance, and art. The Edo language, also called Edo, is widely spoken among the community, and the people have a strong sense of identity tied to their history and traditions.
Historically, the Edo people were part of the Benin Kingdom, one of the oldest and most advanced civilizations in West Africa. The kingdom is famous for its intricate bronze sculptures and the Benin Bronzes, which reflect the artistic skills of the Edo artisans. Today, the Edo people continue to celebrate their cultural practices while adapting to modern influences.
