Edith of Wessex
Edith of Wessex was an English noblewoman born around 1025. She was the daughter of Godwin, Earl of Wessex and Gytha Thorkelsdóttir. Edith became the wife of King Edward the Confessor and served as queen consort from 1045 until Edward's death in 1066.
As queen, Edith played a significant role in the royal court and was known for her piety and charitable works. After Edward's death, she faced challenges during the Norman Conquest and eventually retired to a life of religious devotion, becoming a nun at Wherwell Abbey.
