Harold Godwinson was the last Anglo-Saxon king of England, reigning from January to October 1066. He was born around 1022 and was the son of Godwin, Earl of Wessex. Harold became a powerful noble and was known for his military skills, particularly in defending England against invasions.
His reign was marked by the famous Battle of Hastings on October 14, 1066, where he faced the Norman invader William the Conqueror. Harold was defeated in this battle, which led to the end of Anglo-Saxon rule in England and the beginning of Norman dominance.
