The Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) was a political coalition in Ethiopia formed in 1989. It consisted of several ethnic-based parties, primarily the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF), the Amhara National Democratic Movement, and the Oromo People's Democratic Organization. The EPRDF played a significant role in overthrowing the previous military regime in 1991 and governed Ethiopia for nearly three decades.
In 2018, the EPRDF underwent significant changes, leading to its dissolution and the formation of a new party called the Prosperity Party. This transition aimed to promote national unity and address ethnic tensions within the country. The EPRDF's legacy continues to influence Ethiopia's political landscape today.
