TPLF
The Tigray People's Liberation Front, or TPLF, is a political party in Ethiopia that was founded in 1975. Initially formed to fight against the oppressive rule of the Derg regime, the TPLF played a significant role in the overthrow of the Derg in 1991. For nearly three decades, it was a dominant force in Ethiopian politics, leading the ruling coalition known as the Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF).
In recent years, tensions between the TPLF and the Ethiopian government escalated, leading to a conflict that began in November 2020. This conflict has resulted in a humanitarian crisis in the Tigray region, with widespread reports of violence and displacement affecting millions of people. The situation has drawn international attention and concern regarding human rights and stability in the region.
