Amhara National Democratic Movement
The Amhara National Democratic Movement (ANDM) is a political party in Ethiopia that represents the interests of the Amhara ethnic group. Founded in 1989, it was part of the ruling coalition known as the Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) until 2018. The party aims to promote the cultural, social, and economic rights of the Amhara people within the framework of a federal system.
In 2018, the ANDM underwent significant changes, including a rebranding to the Amhara Democratic Party (ADP) to reflect a more inclusive approach. The party plays a crucial role in Ethiopian politics, especially in the context of ethnic federalism and regional autonomy, which are central issues in the country today.
