Dystrophies
Dystrophies are a group of disorders characterized by the progressive degeneration of muscle tissue. They often lead to weakness and loss of function in affected muscles. Common types include Duchenne muscular dystrophy and Becker muscular dystrophy, which primarily affect boys and are caused by genetic mutations.
These conditions can vary in severity and age of onset. Symptoms may include difficulty walking, muscle cramps, and respiratory issues. While there is currently no cure for most dystrophies, treatments such as physical therapy and medications can help manage symptoms and improve quality of life.
