Muscular Dystrophy
Muscular Dystrophy is a group of genetic disorders that cause progressive weakness and loss of muscle mass. It occurs when genes responsible for muscle health are defective, leading to muscle degeneration over time. The severity and symptoms can vary widely among different types of muscular dystrophy, with some forms appearing in childhood and others in adulthood.
There are several types of muscular dystrophy, including Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and Becker Muscular Dystrophy. These conditions primarily affect skeletal muscles, which are responsible for movement, but can also impact heart and respiratory muscles. While there is currently no cure, treatments focus on managing symptoms and improving quality of life.
