Duke Friedrich I of Saxe-Gotha
Duke Friedrich I of Saxe-Gotha was a German nobleman born on June 24, 1646. He became the Duke of Saxe-Gotha in 1672 and ruled until his death in 1691. Friedrich was known for his efforts to promote education and culture in his duchy, establishing schools and supporting the arts.
Under his leadership, Saxe-Gotha became a center for the Enlightenment, attracting scholars and artists.
