Duke Charles of Mecklenburg-Strelitz
Duke Charles of Mecklenburg-Strelitz (1741-1816) was a German nobleman and a member of the House of Mecklenburg. He was born in Strelitz, a town in present-day Germany, and became the Duke of Mecklenburg-Strelitz in 1752 after the death of his father. Charles is known for his contributions to the arts and sciences during his reign.
He played a significant role in the political landscape of his time, particularly in the context of the Holy Roman Empire. Charles was also the grandfather of Queen Charlotte, the wife of King George III of Great Britain, which connected him to the British royal family.
