Duke Amadeus VIII
Duke Amadeus VIII, also known as Duke Amadeus VIII of Savoy, was a prominent nobleman born in 1435. He became the Duke of Savoy in 1439 and is notable for his efforts to expand the influence of the House of Savoy in Europe. His reign was marked by political maneuvering and alliances, which helped to strengthen his territory.
In 1465, Amadeus VIII was elected as the Antipope Felix V, a title he held until 1471. His papacy was controversial, as it occurred during the Western Schism, a period of division within the Catholic Church. He eventually resigned, returning to his ducal duties until his death in 1472.
