Antipope Felix V
Antipope Felix V was a figure in the history of the Catholic Church who claimed the papacy from 1439 to 1449. He was born as Amadeus of Savoy and was elected by a group of cardinals who opposed the legitimate pope, Eugene IV, during a period of schism. Felix V's election was part of the larger conflict between different factions within the Church.
Despite his claim to the papacy, Felix V was never widely recognized and struggled to gain support. In 1449, he resigned and was later accepted back into the Church by Eugene IV, marking the end of his brief and contentious reign as antipope.
