Duchy of Saxe-Merseburg
The Duchy of Saxe-Merseburg was a historical territory in Germany, part of the larger Saxony region. It was established in the early 16th century and was ruled by the House of Wettin. The duchy was known for its small size and was primarily centered around the town of Merseburg.
In 1815, the duchy was incorporated into the Kingdom of Saxony during the reorganization of German territories after the Napoleonic Wars. The Duchy of Saxe-Merseburg ceased to exist as a separate entity, but its historical significance remains in the context of German state formation.
