Dušan the Mighty
Dušan the Mighty, also known as Stefan Dušan, was a significant ruler of the Serbian Empire during the 14th century. He reigned from 1331 to 1355 and is best known for expanding the empire's territory, making it one of the most powerful states in the Balkans. His reign marked a period of cultural and economic growth, as well as the establishment of the Serbian Orthodox Church as an independent institution.
Dušan implemented a comprehensive legal code known as the Dušan's Code, which aimed to strengthen the administration and justice system. He was crowned as the Emperor of the Serbs and Greeks in 1346, symbolizing his ambition to unite the South Slavic peoples. His legacy continues to influence Serbian history and identity.
