Domestic Cat
The domestic cat is a small, carnivorous mammal belonging to the family Felidae. Known scientifically as Felis catus, these animals are popular pets around the world. They typically weigh between 5 to 20 pounds and have a variety of coat colors and patterns. Domestic cats are known for their agility, sharp retractable claws, and keen senses, particularly their excellent night vision.
Cats are natural hunters and often exhibit playful behaviors that mimic hunting, such as stalking and pouncing. They communicate through vocalizations, body language, and scent marking. Domestic cats can live for 12 to 15 years on average, with some reaching into their twenties with proper care.
