Discus Throwing
Discus throwing is a track and field event where athletes throw a heavy disc, called a discus, as far as possible. The event originated in ancient Greece and is part of the modern Olympic Games. Competitors stand inside a circular area and use a spinning technique to gain momentum before releasing the discus.
The discus is typically made of metal and has a diameter of 22 centimeters for men and 18 centimeters for women. Athletes must follow specific rules regarding their stance and the throwing area to ensure a fair competition. The throw is measured from the edge of the circle to where the discus lands.
