David Hubel
David Hubel was a Canadian neuroscientist known for his groundbreaking research on the visual system. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1981, alongside Torsten Wiesel, for their work on how the brain processes visual information. Their studies revealed how neurons in the visual cortex respond to different stimuli, such as light and movement.
Hubel was born on February 27, 1926, in Windsor, Ontario. He earned his medical degree from McGill University and later conducted research at Harvard University. His contributions significantly advanced our understanding of vision and laid the foundation for further studies in neuroscience.
