Dara Shikoh
Dara Shikoh was the eldest son of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal. Born in 1615, he was known for his interest in philosophy and spirituality, particularly in the study of Sufism and Hinduism. Dara sought to promote religious tolerance and understanding between different faiths during a time of significant cultural and religious diversity in India.
As a prince, Dara Shikoh was a prominent figure in the Mughal court and was involved in various military campaigns. He was a contender for the throne but ultimately lost to his younger brother, Aurangzeb, in a power struggle. Dara was executed in 1659, and his legacy is often remembered for his efforts to bridge cultural divides.
