Czechoslovak Air Force (1945–1992)
The Czechoslovak Air Force (ČSAF) was the aerial branch of the Czechoslovak Armed Forces from 1945 until the dissolution of Czechoslovakia in 1992. After World War II, it was re-established with a focus on modernizing its fleet and integrating new aircraft, including Soviet-made models. The air force played a crucial role in national defense during the Cold War, aligning with the Warsaw Pact.
Throughout its existence, the ČSAF participated in various military exercises and international collaborations. The air force was involved in both air defense and support roles, operating a range of aircraft, including fighters and transport planes. Following the split of Czechoslovakia into the Czech Republic and Slovakia, the air force was divided between the two nations.
