Crime Theory
Crime theory refers to the study of the underlying reasons and factors that contribute to criminal behavior. It seeks to understand why individuals commit crimes by examining various influences, such as social, economic, and psychological factors. Theories can range from biological explanations, which consider genetic predispositions, to sociological perspectives that focus on the impact of community and environment.
Different crime theories, such as strain theory and social learning theory, provide frameworks for analyzing criminal actions. Strain theory suggests that societal pressures can lead individuals to commit crimes when they feel unable to achieve success through legitimate means. In contrast, social learning theory posits that people learn criminal behavior through interactions with others.
