Conn's Syndrome
Conn's Syndrome, also known as primary hyperaldosteronism, is a condition characterized by the overproduction of the hormone aldosterone from the adrenal glands. This excess hormone leads to increased sodium retention, potassium loss, and elevated blood pressure, which can result in hypertension and other cardiovascular issues.
The most common causes of Conn's Syndrome include adrenal adenomas (benign tumors) and adrenal hyperplasia. Diagnosis typically involves blood tests to measure hormone levels and imaging studies to identify any abnormalities in the adrenal glands. Treatment options may include medications, lifestyle changes, or surgery, depending on the underlying cause.
