Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist)
The Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist), often abbreviated as CPN-UML, is a major political party in Nepal. Founded in 1991, it emerged from a split in the original Communist Party of Nepal. The party advocates for Marxist-Leninist principles and aims to establish a socialist state in Nepal through democratic means.
The CPN-UML has played a significant role in Nepal's political landscape, participating in various governments and coalitions. It has been involved in the peace process following the decade-long civil conflict and has contributed to the drafting of the new constitution. The party's leadership has included prominent figures like Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli, who has served as Prime Minister.
