The Common Redstart (Phoenicurus phoenicurus) is a small migratory bird found across Europe and parts of Asia. It is easily recognizable by its striking plumage, featuring a slate-gray body, orange-red tail, and bright orange underparts. This bird typically inhabits woodlands, gardens, and scrub areas, where it can often be seen flitting about in search of insects and other small invertebrates.
During the breeding season, the Common Redstart builds its nest in tree holes or crevices, laying a clutch of 4 to 6 eggs. These birds are known for their distinctive song, which consists of a series of melodious notes. In winter, they migrate to North Africa and South Asia to escape the cold.
