Common Mole
The Common Mole (Talpa europaea) is a small, burrowing mammal found across much of Europe and parts of Asia. It has a cylindrical body, velvety fur, and powerful front limbs adapted for digging. Moles primarily live underground, creating extensive tunnel systems where they hunt for insects, earthworms, and other invertebrates.
Moles are known for their unique behavior and ecological role. They aerate the soil as they dig, which can benefit plant growth. Although often considered pests in gardens and lawns due to their tunneling, they play a crucial role in controlling pest populations and improving soil health.
