Star-Nosed Mole
The Star-Nosed Mole is a small, burrowing mammal found primarily in wetland areas of North America. It is easily recognizable by its unique star-shaped nose, which is covered in 22 sensitive tentacles. These tentacles help the mole detect food in its dark, underground habitat, allowing it to find insects, worms, and other small invertebrates.
This mole has a velvety coat that is typically dark brown or black, and it has webbed feet that make it an excellent swimmer. The Star-Nosed Mole is known for its fast foraging abilities, often consuming food at an impressive rate. Its remarkable adaptations make it well-suited for life in moist environments.
