Common Anole
The Common Anole, also known as the Carolina Anole, is a small lizard native to the southeastern United States and parts of the Caribbean. It typically measures 5 to 8 inches in length and is known for its ability to change color, primarily from green to brown, depending on its environment and mood. This adaptability helps it blend into its surroundings, providing camouflage from predators.
Common Anoles are often found in gardens, forests, and urban areas, where they thrive in warm climates. They primarily feed on insects and other small invertebrates, using their keen eyesight to spot prey. These lizards are also known for their distinctive throat flap, or dewlap, which males display during courtship and territorial displays.
