Cold Desert
A cold desert is a type of desert characterized by low precipitation and cold temperatures, especially during winter. These deserts typically experience harsh conditions, with average annual temperatures often below freezing. The vegetation in cold deserts is sparse, consisting mainly of drought-resistant plants like shrubs and grasses.
One of the most well-known examples of a cold desert is the Gobi Desert, located in Mongolia and China. Cold deserts can also be found in regions like the Great Basin in the United States. Despite their extreme conditions, these ecosystems support unique wildlife adapted to survive in such environments.
