Cockenzie Power Station
Cockenzie Power Station was a coal-fired power plant located in East Lothian, Scotland. It began operations in 1967 and was known for its distinctive twin chimneys, which became a local landmark. The station had a generating capacity of 1,200 megawatts and played a significant role in supplying electricity to the region.
The power station was decommissioned in 2013 as part of the UK's transition to cleaner energy sources. Following its closure, plans were proposed for redevelopment of the site, focusing on renewable energy and other sustainable initiatives to benefit the local community.
