Longannet Power Station
Longannet Power Station was a coal-fired power station located near Kincardine, Scotland. It began operations in 1968 and was one of the largest power stations in the UK, generating electricity for millions of homes. The station had a total capacity of 2,400 megawatts and played a significant role in the national grid.
In 2016, Longannet was officially closed due to economic factors and environmental regulations. Its closure marked the end of an era for coal power in Scotland, as the country shifted towards more sustainable energy sources like wind and solar power.
